Parents of a talented child from Kočani organize free courses for future Olympians

Anita and Vasil Grcevi opened the association “Bright Minds” to help talented children whose families cannot pay for extra lessons

Motivated by personal experience as parents of a talented child, Anita and Vasil Grchevi from Kočani opened the “Bright Minds” association. Their main goal is to organize free advanced courses to prepare talented students in the field of natural sciences for international competitions. Although the association exists only for two months, the first informatics camp begins today, which will be held at the “Brana Gradche” hotel near Kočani.

By Friday, the junior and senior informatics team will have intensive preparations for the upcoming Olympiads at the international and world level. The preparations are organized by the Association of Informatics of Macedonia.

– The goal of “Bright Minds” is to support talented students and young people. As parents of a child who has competed since childhood and is a big fan of informatics, but also of mathematics, we have always been there to help and do our best to enable our son to have additional learning outside of school, attending various courses, preparations for competitions, in and out of the country..

According to how much funds are needed and seeing many talented children with a desire for knowledge and success, but they cannot afford it all, we decided to found an association to help them and support young talents – says Grcheva

They connected with Victor Simjanoski, a former talented student and math competitor who achieved high scores and won numerous national and international math awards medals. With him, they started the first steps to realize their goals.

– Viktor Simjanoski lives and works in America today. He was educated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2011), the University of Chicago (2013) and his profession is Quantitative researcher at Citadel. He has a great desire and in his own way has been helping our talented students in mathematics for several years. At the moment, she is working on the establishment of a non-profit organization in America so that Macedonian talented students can be helped with quality – she explains.

he main goal of “Bright Minds” is to organize courses, trainings and preparations for competitions in the field of informatics, mathematics and other natural sciences. All of that should be free for students who want to support themselves with more knowledge, and help is planned for other associations and alliances from the same area.

Today, Vladimir Grchev is the leader of his generation in informatics and one of the four children in the Junior Team in informatics who represent Macedonia at the international Olympiads. Last year he was the youngest participant in the history of the Olympiad.

– Our goal is to provide children like our son with free courses in a special more advanced program in cooperation with the Association of Computer Scientists, the Association of Mathematicians, the Association of Physicists, the Association of Chemists and others. We believe that there are many such children in the country – says Grcheva

The association already has a lot of support from our previous successful competitors who have won numerous medals at the international and world level. They are willing to help by giving advice, sharing experience, knowledge and solving problems in the field of mathematics, informatics and physics and they can be seen on the official website brightmindsofmacedonia.com.
